毎日新聞, a free online Japanese newspaper, has a corner called 毎日漢字 (Daily Kanji). Everyday there is a new kanji compound for you practice your kanji-reading skills!

The kanji they choose are, I admit, quite intimidating. (this quiz is aimed at a Japanese audience), but do not fear! Once you submit your guess (by clicking 答えを見る!), a brief explanation (in Japanese, of course) of the meaning appears along with the percent of correct answers submitted.

There’s no better way to familiarize yourself with kanji readings than by learning or reviewing a few (albeit challenging) ones everyday. After all, visible long-term improvement comes from daily practice.

I hope you enjoy tackling these challenging kanji! (day after day after day after day…)
